JFace Components

Jface is a useful tool that can relieve users of Java from some of the headaches that may come with using the program. Jface was introduced to let developers reach their primary goals without having to worry about the intricacies and developments of the program.Jface works with Java on many different levels. On an introductory level, it lets the user know how they should approach the basics. This includes populating, sorting, filtering, and making sure that widgets are current. Narrowing down specific parameters is important as well. There are specific settings that make functions unique. This includes menu items, tool items, push buttons and other elements like struts that can really make products from the Eclipse group extremely effective.
The definition of Jface is a layer that sits on top of the raw widget system, and provides classes for handling common UI programming tasks. Here is what it can do for you:
- Provides Viewer classes that handle the tedious tasks of populating, sorting, filtering, and updating widgets
- Provides Actions to allow users to define their own behavior and to assign that behavior to specific components, e.g. menu items, tool items, push buttons, etc.
- Provides registries that hold Images and Fonts
- Defines standard dialogs and wizards, and defines a framework for building complex interactions with the user
One of the issues that the Eclipse group was concerned about was making sure that SWT was not hidden from the programmer. This fact makes any association with Java inevitable, because they strive to be innovative and compatible with other advancements in the computer world.
