But.. so far have you sure that your Antivirus already work as well as you think? Or have you sure that there is no something corrupt with your Antivirus file? We must know it before we feel sorry for computer damage caused by uncorrect Antivirus work.

So test it first, because Antivirus is one program that very important for computer security.

How to test antivirus tips? It’s not good and wise method if you test your Antivirus using real virus, because it will be dangerous for your computer if your Antivirus doesn't work.

One of the famouse and right method too test Antivirus is using Eicar Test file. Eicar Test file is safety file to test Antivirus that will be read as virus by Antivirus, but actually this file not contain virus code at all. It's just ASCII code. In simple word this file is not virus. So this file is not dangerous for your computer.

Here the step, first open Notepad program:

Start ---> All Program ---> Accesories ---> Notepad

Then copy the caracter code below to Notepad Sreen:

Save that file using name EICAR.EXE

For Antivirus that working well, It's file will be detect as virus automatically. But if it’s not, it's mean your Antivirus doesn't work.

What's next if your Antivirus can't read that Eicar Test file? First, check again about your Antivirus protection configuration. Make sure that configuration already correct. If it still can work, maybe it' caused by corrupt file when installation or update the Antivirus. It's better if we try to reinstall again.

If still doesn't work? Of course... It'll better if we change the Antivirus.

Change Desktop Icon Space in Vista

Besides change icon Vista size, to make our Window Vista desktop background became more good looking, we have to change space between one icon to each other. Because if we make icon Vista smaller, space between icon became too much space.

It will be better if we reduce it's space even horisontal or vertical. With add desktop icon density, will reduse space that it's use at desktop. here the tricks!

Choose "Appearance and Personalization"

Next, choose "Personalization"

Next step, "Window color and Appearance" menu

Maybe this how to tips and tricks is just little tricks for common user of Window Vista. But it is not for new user of Window Vista like I used to.

Window Vista give a big of default desktop icon size. It's mean that if We install more software, tools or game with desktop icon it will take more and more.. a lot of space at our Window Vista background.

It will became more problem for Somebody that very like to install new software at their PC. Of course with to much big desktop icon, our computer background or wallpaper became looks very dirty and to much waste I mean. Even actualy that icon are not a waste but important software for us. How about our favorite wallpaper? Of course it will become difficult to see.

Just looks this my Window Vista desktop background before, below!

Actually Window Vista diferent than Window XP. Window Vista completed with simple way to change desktop icon size. The formula is:

PRESSING CTRL+SCROLL MOUSE

Just Pressing your Ctrl button and scroll your mouse up or down, and chose the icon size according your wish.

So simple isn't it?

And here we go, my lovely PC has simple, clean and elegant desktop icon.

So good looking for me!

It will be better if you also change space between one icon to each other in order to make them more rapid.

Unhide Folders (Show Missing Folders Option)

"One day when I will open my private file that already I change to hidden file, I was shock. Because when I open folder option, I didn't find folder option button on Window Explorer. Of course this is become problem, because how can I open my file, if I can to show up my hidden file through folder option? My Folder options is missing!"

WHY FOLDER OPTIONS MISSING?

Folder option missing usually cause by virus. One of it is by virus Brontox. Everyday virus became more sophisticated. So don't forget to upgrade your Antivirus regularly. This virus attack Folder Options and hide it. So We can't open file that already We hide.

Actually or Fortunately this Folder Options isn't really missing. It's only hide by Virus. So We just have to show up again by one of steps bellow!

TRICKS 1

This is the easiest step. Try to scan your computer by your Antivirus, than restart the computer. This usually works but sometimes not. As long as I know Pcmav, Ansav and Smadav Antivirus work well in this case. How about your Antivirus?

If doesn't work, don't worry it's not the end of world, just follow the second tricks!

TRICKS 2

Open "Run" menu.

Start --->Run

Then type "GPEDIT.MSC" to open Group Policy Window, see the picture bellow!

Now we already open Group Policy Window. than click:

User Configuration ----> Administrative Templates ----> Window Components ---->Windows Explorer ----> Removes the Folder Options menu item....

see the picture below!

Have you find thats item? just click it and will show window like picture below:

Check menu "Disabled" than "Apply" to make your Folder Options came back. Restart computer if there is no direct effect!

TRICKS 3

Last tricks is using Registry Editor.

Open "Run"

Start ----> Run

Then type "REGEDIT" like picture below:

After Registry Editor Window show up, click the item below:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER ----> Software ---> Microsoft ---->

Window -----> Current Version ----> Policies ----> Explorer

Find item " NoFolderOptions" set the value to 0 (zero)

If you don't find that item, just make it your self, by

Right click mouse on empty area ----> New ---> DWORD Value

then just type it like picture above!

Restart the computer

Did You ever see that Your Computer has too many program running when booting up (starting computer)? I mean including programs that You don't want to running yet. Starting unnecesary (too many) program when booting up, make Our computer become to busy. The bad effect is make Our computer running slowly, especially for computer that has low specification on hardware.

USING WINDOW PROGRAM TOOLS

In Window Vista, first go to Start ---> Control Panel (classic view) ----> Administrative Tools ---> System Configuration

Using express search in Vista

Start ---> type "System Configuration" on search column, then short and press Enter.

this window will appear "System Configuration Window". Click tab "Startup".

Final step is You just give uncheck to the program that you don't want to run when booting up, it will turn off unchecked program when Your computer startup. And the opposite, if You want to turn on the program, simply, just give check to the program.

After that restart Your computer and watch the result.

To make it easier, I will use the following components, domain is from Namecheap, DNS server using Namecheap DNS, and hosting blogs from Blogspot. Due to setting up a domain required three components, namely hosting, DNS and domain. For hosting you do not need to think again, because Blogspot provide free facilities. For the domain at Namecheap, you have to pay and can use Paypal without a credit card. As for the DNS server, we choose DNS from Namecheap itself, because it good news, Namecheap also provide DNS server that is also free.

DNS servers are only for reference, not a necessity. Because according to our experience, using the free DNS servers and domain from same domain seller can accelerate the process of change that domain. In fact we have had only takes three hours, although according to the explanation that domain change takes 24 hours to 48 hours. Also you can use other free DNS service, up to you.

Here I explain step by about tips to create Adsense for Domains ads, complete with domain settings at Namecheap. This domain hosting is not a must, you can customize with your own domain hosting. I give examples of the settings on Namecheap, because that's where my hosting domain, that's why! How to setting is similar with other domain hosting, you just need to adjust it.

As we know, one of the products of Google AdSense's advertising services is AdSense for Domains. The workings of AdSense for Domains is to utilize our unused domain, to be filled with AdSense ads. So in essence, our domain does not need to contain anything (for example article post), just enough with the domain name is not used it. Thus, a domain that is not useful can be useful to make money through AdSense for Domains ads.

Step making AdSense for Domains

The main requirement of course you must have a domain that is not used in a domain hosting service. In addition you must also have an Adsense account. The first step you should do is login into your Adsense account and go to the Adsense for Domains menu, in the "Adsense Setup" -> "Get ads", like the picture below.

Then enter your domain name in the column that has been provided. Enter the domain name without http:// or www. If you enter multiple domains, for every one line, enter one domain name only. For a while setting your Adsense for Domains has been completed. The next step is to set DNS server in your domain hosting service. Next I will cite the settings on the Namecheap. If your domain hosting service is different, you can customize it yourself.

Setting up DNS Server on domain hosting service

As I said before, in this example I will give examples for setting the DNS server on Namecheap. First, please log in into your Namecheap account, then choose the menu "Domain" -> "Manage Domain". Then click on the domain name would you use for AdSense for Domains. After that look at the column on the left, and select the menu "Transfer DNS to webhost", or if that menu not show, there will be another menu called "Domain Name Server Setup".

Fill out your DNS servers with DNS servers from Google for AdSense for Domains as follows in the following manner.

ns2.googleghs.com
ns3.googleghs.com
ns4.googleghs.com

For more details, look at how to fill as shown below, then click on "Save Change" button.

Setting up DNS Servers of AdSense for Domains above is easiest way. You do not need to enter a CNAME (Alias) or Record type. Quite simply by using Google's own DNS servers, it is definitely Adsense will be able to detect your settings.

Now, all your settings are complete. You can simply check the results of your settings in your AdSense for Domains account. If your setting is correct, then the domain status is pending, as shown below.

Google AdSense does not directly approve all domains are registered for the AdSense for Domains. They should be verified first, to make sure the domain is approved or not. If it does not contain pornography, violence, gambling or other illegal things, then your domain will be approved by Google Adsense, and the status of your domain will "Active" as shown below.

Choose Forward and type in your domain name with http://www. on the front, for example: http://www.domain.com

In subdomain, key in www and then choose CNAME and point it to ghs.google.com

If your domain is not redirecting to its www. address (when you visit a non www address), tick the redirection box.

Previously:
I know many people who bought their domain name from Dynadot had a really hard time setting it to work with Blogger.

You will only see your blog when you type in www. in front of your domain (eg. www.dualtranz.com) but when you type it without www., you'll get a blank page instead.

The solution to that problem:

Choose your domain name and go to Name Server Settings. Then look under Advance Dynadot DNS.

In Domain Record, set Record Type to A and the IP Address to 72.14.207.121

Then in Subdomain Records, type in www at subdomain, set Record Type to CNAME and type in ghs.google.com at ip address. Lastly, click on Use Dynadot DNS button to confirm your changes. Here's an example:

Now at Blogger, set your custom domain under the Publishing tab and tick the redirect box below your domain name. Click on the following image:

Wait a few hours (some times up to 48 hours) for the DNS to update and you should be able to access your blog when you type in your domain name with or without www.

Now you will get a message saying something like “853 rows affected”.

Method-1:

Is your WordPress Blog Having Duplicate Contents ? Okay, Dont worry, Actually duplicate contents has been a major issue with auto blogs and RSS feed catchers. Duplicate Contents also happens if you are importing your blogger blog again and again or if you are importing wordpress export file again and again. There are several wordpress plugins to delete duplicate posts from wordpress blog database but some of those plugins do not work and some of them are not free. Here is a free way to remove duplicate posts from wordpress easily. Just follow below given steps to Delete wordpress posts that are posted twice, thrice or more

Step#1
Login in Your Hosting Control Panel and Click on myPhpadmin

Step#2
After Clicking on myPhpadmin, you will see a screen like below shown picture.

Copy-past below given SQL command and click on Go

     You need to log in to your mysql database (usually PHPMyAdmin) and then run that script there. I just used it on a site of mine where a script had went totally overboard and added about 93.000 duplicate posts!

I ran this script, but my duplicates are still there?
       When I got into mysql database, there are not duplicate entries, but the front page shows duplicates down at the bottom, for just some of the posts, but the posts don't seem to have a core idenitfying characteristic, ie. symbols in post title, flash media in post, etc.

We can not manage uploaded images within our blogger account. We have to visit our picasa web albums account for managing our uploaded images and its not easier to find uploaded images in Picasa Web Albums.

Blogger’s Comment system is not much user friendly
We only can import other blogger blogs and can not import wordpress etc blogs.
Blogger labels can not be indexed in search engines as default robots file (which blogger generates for every blogspot blog) restricts search engines to index labels. This may cause your blog SEO however, Google uses blog archives to Index your blog but what about other search engines ?
Sometimes, Your blogger blog posts are not indexed due to some bugs and Google indexes those posts after several days or even months. This happened with me several times.

These are advantages and disadvantages of Blogger and Self hosted wordpress blog. Normally, Professional bloggers go with self hosted wordpress and some also trust blogger too as i did not had any issue with blogger blog having more than 10k visitors a day since last 20+ months. Host your Template Images in Blogger (Unlimited Bandwitdh)

A year back, I used photobucket to host my template images.. but, the problem with photobucket and many other free image hosts is their bandwidth limitations. Once, you exceed a specific amount of bandwidth, your images won't show, instead.. an irritating ' bandwidth exceeded' image shows. Next, after that I tried to create.. like a new photobucket account per each template.. but, that also exceeded in a matter a couple of weeks.
Not only me, my other blogger template designers are also struggling to find a reliable, free image host with unmetered bandwidth.

I tried to upload the images to blogger and copy the image url from the status bar and use it in templates.. but it didn't worked. But, recently I came to know that we can actually host the images( large) in blogger and hotlink,use them in templates, forums,etc.

Here is the trick..

As usual, create a new post in blogger and upload your template images to that post... but don't publish it... keep it as a draft.
Once you completed uploading all the images, Open each image in a new window.

Once, the image is loaded in the new window, what I previously did was to copy the image location from the status bar and paste/hotlink it in templates. But, it didn't worked!

Now, the trick is, many people don't know that the url which we copy from the status bar is not exactly the direct link to that image file... that's why we can't hotlink to that image.

So, what we have to do to hotlink to that image is Right Click on the image and ' Copy Image location'. (for firefox users). For Internet explorer users, Right click on the image and go to Properties and then copy the image url from there.

Which works and we can do whatever we want.. with unlimited bandwidth :D

Disable Right Click in Blogger(blogspot) or any webpage

This post explains how to disable right click on blogger(blogspot) or any other webpage using a html(javascript) code.

It is so annoying if someone copies(thefts) your blog posts,articles,images and another kind of information owned by you saying that they are the original owners of the content.

But,I think 'disabling right click' is not the right solution for that.
Most people come to your site to read information and very small percentage of people come to your site to steal your work,images,etc.So,most people feel it insulting and I think it's very unprofessional thing to do

If you want to protect your images,my suggestion is to add a Watermark(logo) of your sitename,or your name on the images,pictures,etc.

Note:Using this javascript code,you only disable the right click by warning the visitors that the content is copyrighted.

Where to paste it in blogger ?
Sign in to your blogger dashboad>layout>Add a Pageelement>html/javascript(look at the screenshot below) and paste the below javascript code and Save the changes.

How it works?
If you right click on the webpage,a message will pop up on screen saying "function disabled".If you want to change the message to you own one like "sorry....the work is copyrighted" or something like that, replace the "funtion disabled" text with your own message in the Javascript code.

This tip explains how to generate and submit blogger sitemap to google webmaster tools:Before doing this,let me say what are sitemaps and how they will help us.The reason we use them is,they will help google bot to crawl,index pages of your site and tell you if there are any problems when they try to index it.It also helps you to know,how many pages exactly are indexed,and what people searched in the search engine to visit your site.
Let me explain the detailed procedure on how to submit your blogger sitemap to google.
1.First,go to google webmaster tools and sign in with your gmail account.
2.After you logged in, you will see this asking you to add a site.

Add your blog url(ex:kranthitips.blogspot.com).Don't add with http or www.

3.Next,it asks you to verify your site.It is just to confirm whether you are the owner or not.

CLICK on the 'verify your site' link.

Next,

4.There are two ways to verify your ownership but, there is only one way for the blogger users to add a metatag.

5.Copy the metatag.
